When we got to Guiyang we were told it was children's day. There were tons of little kids running around with their parents. This picture was taken at a temple. This incline was a favorite for the children to slide down. You can see that the stone on the incline is much shinier than that one the stone on the flat, this is from all the children sliding up and down. Wax on wax off. However, the guy in black on the left side looks quite disconcerting.
This is Heather. She is another one of the interns here at GFC. Heather, Will (another intern), and myself went off on our own to explore the city. It should be noted that the three of us are new interns and none of us have ever been to Guiyang. In a nut shell we were lost. We walked to the top of the temple to sort of find our bearings. We weren't as lost as we thought we were.
This is some kind of street snack I have no idea what it is called, but the first thing I could think of to relate to this was peanut brittle, but even that is no where near this. This treat is made from red beans, so I don't know why this is purple. After hopping on the wrong bus that took us to a very wrong bus stop we stopped to get some snacks. Heather, Will, and I bought about 8 of these for about less than 2 USD. The little rickshaw we bought this off of was the place that I had my first full on Chinese conversation. It was a very elementary conversation, but I am proud to say I had one. This snack was really good by the way, I forgot to mention that ,oops!
Just a little kid begging for a ballon at a crossing.
Me, Ryan, and one of the Chinese teachers outside of the stadium waiting to go in. Ryan is the football (soccer for the Americans) coach at GFC. He is a fun dude to hang around.
I am not sure of the names of these two people, but the guy in the black shirt oversees the hotel major here at GFC. These two were participating in some pre-game shenanigans by playing around with noise makers.
This is the fan section for GuiYang. The stadium doesn't seem packed, wasn't packed, but there were still quite a few people in there. This is the reaction to Guiyang's goal against Shanghai. The game was tied 2-2. Though not many people came it was incredibly intense and so fun. Shanghai was up 2-0 in the first half and then Guiyang came back with 2 beautiful goals in the second half; the second goal was only 2 minutes away from the end of the game. This outing was a hell of an experience. Getting lost in a crazy city, taking public transportation packed to the point of playing grab ass with the person infront of you, and finishing it with a pro level soccer game; this was an absolutely amazing day.
I love that they allow incendiaries in the stadium!
ReplyDeleteThe little kid in hat is so cute, but that guy in black does look like a pedophile/stalker.
